So, you have your Engagement Session date set, and location planned and now you have to figure out what to wear! This is actually one of my specialties! I used to be a Stylist for Stitch Fix and styled for both Men and Women!
The location of your engagement session is going to be the biggest deciding factor when choosing outfits. I’m going to break down style options depending on the style of the Engagement Session location.
Dramatic or scenic setting:
For locations like the glamorous Art Museum or Bridgerton vibes at mansions like Stan Hywet, an epic dress is such a fun way to do your engagement session. There are companies that actually rent out dresses perfect for photo sessions. If you are like me and love to be a bit extra for your photos then this is a great way to up-level your engagement photos.
- Olivia’s Gowns has a ton of stunning dresses perfect for those epic photos:

- Rent the Runway is another option to rent a gown for your engagement session. This way you don’t have to worry about buying a dress for just one session.

Night Out on the Town, cityscape session
For city sessions at places like a bar scene or rooftop views, I love a good cocktail dress and stunning heels! There are so many sleek and gorgeous options for cocktail dresses, but these are a few of my personal favorites to choose from!
- Lulus, This is probably my go-to for dresses in general. I love this site for photo sessions and events! They have a ton of great options with a variety of styles.

- Vici Another great online shop with a ton of variety is Vici. I love their dress selection especially, but they also have great items for a lot of different looks and styles.

Beach or Garden Setting
The beach and garden locations can have a whimsical feel to them and they tend to make beautiful settings with a long and flowy dress
- Baltic Born For more flowy dresses you can easily wear to other occasions, Baltic Born is a great option to purchase a dress! The long flowy dresses always photograph so beautifully!

- Amazon
I have actually gotten a few great flowy dresses from Amazon for a really great price! There is a huge selection of outfit options with super fast shipping!
Cozy at-home session or your second more casual outfit
For a more casual outfit, color is going to play a big part in achieving the look that you are hoping for. For the more casual outfit, I love neutrals with a soft feel and texture to convey a cozy feel. Oversized sweatshirts with some ripped jeans are a great way to have that relaxed Sunday afternoon feel. I do suggest avoiding outfits with graphics and wording because it can be distracting in the photos and pull the focus from you two.
- Jean and Lou, I love local boutiques when finding that perfect soft sweater or sweatshirt. My favorite is probably Jean and Lou in downtown Cuyahoga Falls. They always have such a great selection of different clothes for a casual night in or a dressy, night on the town.
- Stitch Fix
Want someone to just style you and take the guesswork out? I always loved styling couples with their Stitch Fix box. I put together an entire look for engagement photos all the time when I was a stylist. When you order your Fix, just make sure you tell your stylist that you have engagement photos coming up and where the setting will be. They already have all your measurements and can style you based on what looks great for your unique self!
