“Accessories are like vitamins to fashion – as such, you should use them liberally.” – Anna Dello Russo

When planning your outfits for your session, accessories make all the difference in letting your personality shine. It not only brings uniqueness to your style, but it also helps with giving your hands more things to do during your session. The question “What do I do with my hands?” is answered with accessories where you can hold a hat, play with a scarf, and adjust an earring. Here are some of my favorite accessories to bring a bit more fun for your session.

  1. Earrings. This gives an instant fun touch for your portraits. I love a fun pair of big earrings to match your awesome personality. You can go with a fun fringe pair that are great with movement or classic studs to match a more traditional style. Big hoop earrings are great for a vintage vibe to a more modern outfit. They especially look great for those close-up shots that will enhance your facial features.

Hats. I love the versatility of hats. Especially for a more themed shoot to get fun, playful images. For example, a summer beach shoot is great with a big, floppy sun hat that gives a plethora of options to play around with and gives your hands something to hold and do while you are cracking up at my crazy prompts. They are also the perfect accessory for a winter shoot that also keeps you warm in colder temperatures.

Scarves. Speaking of cooler temperatures, scarves are a great accessory for a fun, fall shoot that you can also wear and move with for an added bit of fun as you are twirling in the leaves or snow. There are also so many options for different types of scarves!

Bonus Accessory: Your amazing personality!

“Never forget that the most essential fashion accessories, the ones no woman can afford to do without, come from within. A generous heart, a spontaneous smile, and eyes that sparkle with delight can be part of any woman’s signature look once she awakens to her authentic beauty.” – Sarah Ban Breathnach
